BACK TO THE ROOTS, CULTURAL WEEK

Last week was a busy week in Moi University. The student center which serves as a nerve of all students’ meetings has just concluded hosting of the cultural week activities. The ceremony which began on Wednesday this week came to an end yesterday in its own style when students kept vigil the whole night at the student centre dancing in all sorts of style as DJ. Hassan thrilled the crowd.

The ceremony which is usually held each and every year is highly valued by not only the students but also to the moi university fraternity at large. This was evidenced at the opening of the ceremony where the procession began at the moi university dispensary with motorbike operators taking the lead of the procession in style. They all were hooting their horns as they rode slowly headed to the stage then to the student centre.

Dancer groups could not be left out. They opened the stage in a cheerful and courteous manner by performing their best skilful maneuvers and moves. There was a lot of fun as karate team and dramatists moved the crowd on the stage with their wonderful performance.

The event also identified Jeff as Mr. MOI and Nancy as MS. CULTURE during the Friday night. DJ Hassan spanned the decks from dusk to dawn, an opportunity that many could not miss. The theme of this year’s cultural week was culture for peace and prosperity.
