MUSO DECIDES




Today, 22nd august 2014 marks a historical day as Moi University students vote at the student center to usher in the 28th SGC, STUDENTS GOVERNING COUNCIL. 

As early as 5 o’clock in the morning, students were already up on queue to exercise their democratic right. The aspirants for various dockets were not left out too. Vollah Owino, an aspirant for the secretary general post cast his vote as early as 6 o’clock in the morning accompanied by his supporters. Other aspirants who cast their votes include Annabelle Wangari who is the only female aspirant in the race for the top seat, Steve Abuto security and accommodation docket, Salim Cheserem, chairperson docket, among other aspirants for different posts.

 So far the election process is reported to be peaceful even as the exercise continues. The voting process is expected to stop at 8 p.m to allow the tallying of votes. Instances of malpractices have been reported where certain candidates’ agents were issuing small pieces of paper to voters just at the entrance to persuade them to vote for their candidates. However, voter turnout is higher as compared to last elections.
